چکیده

A field experiment was conducted in maize under medium-term conservation agriculture (CA) based maizewheat system at BISA-CIMMYT, Ladhowal, Punjab during kharif 2019 to assess the effect of CA+ practices (CA with sub-surface drip irrigation) variable N doses on maize. The treatments were residue retained (WR) permanent bed (PB) fertigation (PB-SSD): without (N0), 120 kg N/ha,150 N/ha applied 4-equal (Eq) and differential splits (Df); CA alone treatment includ PB furrow irrigation (PBWRFurrow- N120); conventional tillage (CT) involved (CTWOR-Furrow-N120) other removed (WOR) PB: PBWOR-without N/ha, 150 four Eq-splits Df-splits. findings present showed that numerical value yield attributing characters higher plots as compared (PBWR-Furrow-N120) CT (CTWOR-Furrow-N120). Biological significantly all plots. Highest biological recorded PBWR-SSD-N150 Df (23.45 t/ha). no. cobs (72800/ha), grains/cob (605) cob length (22.61cm) along dry matter resulted highest grain content remained statistically similar across management plots, but case total uptake, (CA+) dominated due biomass. Besides, PBWR-SSD-N120 (average Eq) registered 23-24% uptake than N120) Improved agronomic use-efficiency also (36.4 kg/kg N) (36.7

Subsurface Drip Nitrogen Fertigation of Corn

The efficient management of nitrogen (N) fertilizer and irrigation is of utmost importance because they are two of the greatest expenses for corn production. This project was conducted to determine if yield and efficiency of fertilizer N in corn could be improved by applying N at later developmental stages through a subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) system. Experiments in 2014 and 2015 compared ...

Soil and crop management under conservation agriculture in Zimbabwe

Carbon mitigation strategies and mechanisms have been globally implemented in an attempt to prevent catastrophic climate change. Kyoto targets require reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and increases in carbon sequestration. Although a number of carbon neutral technologies have been adopted such as bio-fuel and alternative energies, these currently fail to meet global requirements. An innov...

Rice Performance and Water Use Efficiency under Plastic Mulching with Drip Irrigation

Plastic mulching with drip irrigation is a new water-saving rice cultivation technology, but little is known on its productivity and water-saving capacity. This study aimed to assess the production potential, performance, and water use efficiency (WUE) of rice under plastic mulching with drip irrigation. Field experiments were conducted over 2 years with two rice cultivars under different culti...

evaluation of yield and nitrogen use efficiency of maize and cotton intercropping under different nitrogen levels

in order to evaluate the yield and nitrogen use efficiency of corn and cotton intercropping under different levels of nitrogen, an experiment was conducted as a factorial arrangement based on completely randomized block design with three replications. the experimental treatments were nitrogen fertilizers in four levels (0, 50, 100 and 150 kg ha-1) and planting pattern in three levels (maize sol...

Low-Input Cropping Systems and Nitrogen Fertilizer Effects on Crop Production: Soil Nitrogen Dynamics and Efficiency of Nitrogen Use in Maize Crop

Soil N is a major factor limiting crop production in maize-based agriculture in the tropics. In this study, soil N dynamics and efficiency of N use by maize was investigated in five cropping systems (CSs) over two annual cropping phases. The CSs comprised cereal-legume (CS1, CS2, CS3), cereal-cereal (CS4) and cereal-bare fallow (CS5) rotations with three rates of N fertiliser application to mai...
